The Blufflands Coalition will establish an exceptional network of contiguous protected lands and recreation trails throughout the La Crosse-La Crescent region. Our cooperative efforts will enhance the health of residents, visitors, natural ecosystems, and our local economy.
The Blufflands Coalition was created in response to THE BLUFFLANDS - A Plan For Conservation and Recreation Throughout the La Crosse - La Crescent Region. The Blufflands Plan was developed in 2016 by the LAPC using a planning consultant and a steering committee. Its goals are improved public health, ecological diversity, connected communities, economic strength, and a high quality of life. All Blufflands Coalition members have approved a Memorandum of Understanding governing Blufflands Coalition operations.
The Land
Our properties and trails are a mixture of single and mixed-use trails that offer residents and visitors opportunities for recreation. Activities like hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and nature photography have become local favorites year-round.
Our Mission
...To identify new, creative ways to conserve the blufflands that support our communities and preserve the region's unique identity. Our primary goals are to:
Protect land near urban areas from development.
Preserve natural spaces for habitat restoration.
Create an accessible space for public recreation.
