WHO WE ARE
The La Crosse Area Mountain Bike Team started out 12 years ago with less than 20 kids. Today, it is over 90 strong, consisting of middle schoolers and high schoolers from WI and MN.
We have nearly 40 volunteer coaches and travel around the state to race at 5 different venues where we camp with our family and friends each fall.
Sound fun? It is… Join us!”
WHO CAN JOIN?
Students entering grades 6 through 12 in the 2025-2026 school year are welcome to join! La Crosse Composite is one local team comprised of middle and high school students from our area schools. Current team members are from La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, La Crescent, and Bangor schools.
Not all who participate want to compete in the weekend race festivals – And that’s OK! Signing up for the team allows to practice with the team and receive the same coaching. Races are optional, and you register for those outside of the regular season. Just want to participate but not race; you are welcome to!
COACHES
All our coaches are volunteers. They complete a background check through NICA. Depending on what level of coaching the pursue (Level 1,2,3) they receive online training, on the bike training, concussion, first aid, CPR training, and more.

”My favorite part about being on the mountain bike team is… The festival weekends – I love seeing athletes and families come together with the larger NICA community to embrace mountain bike adventures and cross country racing. From introducing the sport to new riders, to supporting racers hungry for competition, and all the growth and development between, I am honored to be part of the La Crosse Area Mountain Bike Team!
